Step Up For India has developed a variety of programs to address gaps in basic English education for underserved children. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that we signed with the Department of Education, Government of Karnataka, mandates the implementation of our programs in all upper-primary government schools across Karnataka. We have also signed an MoU with the Chhattisgarh government to implement our programs.
SatH-DO (Study at Home – Digital Outreach) Program
An innovative program that builds foundational skills in English in a flipped-class model at school where concepts are introduced by the teachers. After this, students take ownership of practicing the various concepts at school, with their families or with their friends in the neighborhood using minimal or no technology. They come back and present their learnings in the classroom. This program brings students to their textbook level.
TAP (Textbook Augmentation Program)
A program that offers support for primary government school teachers to build their English capacity and to improve their use of government textbooks. It also offers reinforcement of the textbook material to the students directly.
REAP (Remedial English Accelerated Program)
An accelerated, intensive, and effective government school teacher-taught program for students who need remedial assistance in the shortest possible time.
PEP (Primary English Program)
A volunteer-taught program in urban-area government schools, primarily taught by corporate, college-student, and community volunteers.
